Point Loma - Cabrillo National Monument
The park offers a superb view of San Diego’s harbor and skyline. At the
highest point of the park stands the Old Point Loma Lighthouse, which has been
a San Diego icon since 1854. A statue and museum in the Visitor Center commemorate
Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo's exploration of the coast of California.
Whale Watching
Seeing a California Gray Whale is an exhilarating experience. Between December
and March the Gray whale travels approximately 6,000 miles from the cold waters
of the Arctic to the warmer waters of the Baja Coast. Here they give birth to
their young and prepare them for the long trek back. On the return trip the young
calves can frequently be seen swimming at their mother's side.
Del Mar
Del Mar "Where the turf meets the surf". The main attraction of visitors
is still the beach and sunny weather. Of course, the annual Del Mar Fair and the
well-known Del Mar Racetrack bring in people from the surrounding area and beyond.
